Korean Arts Unscripted: Voices from the Scene

About the Blog

The Korean arts scene is vibrant, complex, and constantly evolving. But too often, the stories that truly matter—the raw, unscripted voices of artists, curators, and cultural workers—go unheard. 🎀

You might have seen official reports in English from institutions, but not from grassroots arts organizations and artists due to language barriers. That’s why I started this platform. 🌏✍️

This is a space to collect and share article series that dive deep into the lived experiences of those shaping Korea’s cultural landscape. From independent artists to institutional challenges, I plan to uncover what’s happening behind the scenes. πŸŽ¨πŸ”

πŸ‘©πŸ» Who I Am

Hi, I’m Soohye, a performing arts producer and arts and culture researcher with over a decade of experience in the performing arts. Through my work, I’ve seen firsthand the struggles and triumphs of artists navigating Korea’s cultural ecosystem. During my active years as a producer, I built great connections with international arts communities, but I had to stop traveling for a while due to childcare πŸ‘Ά and taking care of my mother who has Alzheimer’s disease. πŸ’œ

So I decided to leave my traces through this platform. I hope it’s worth it! πŸ“βœ¨

πŸ“© Subscribe to get the latest articles delivered to your email. (Don’t worry, I won’t spam—probably once a month!)

🀝 I’d love for you to explore, share, and be part of this dialogue. But right now, I have very little time juggling roles as a mother, teacher, daughter, researcher, and producer. So, I won’t be able to accept guest contributions at the moment.
